Academic Improvement and

Achievement Act

The goal of the Academic Improvement and Achievment Act (AIAA) initiative is to enhance student achievement and increase the number of graduates that are eligible for the California State University (CSU) and the University of California (UC).  In March 2004, Kern County's AIAA program was extended to expand partnership efforts in support of the recently developed Early Assessment Program (EAP).

The EAP is a result of collaboration between the California Department of Education (CDE), State Board of Education (SBE), and California State University (CSU).  The goal of the new initiative is to prepare all California high school graduates to enter the CSU fully prepared to begin college-level study.

Kern's AIAA program remains committed to its goal of delivering a series of services to participating school sites through the EAP.  To succesfully service these target student populations, the program has worked to develop a relationship with the English and Math departments at California State University, Bakersfield (CSUB).
